Forbidden Art: Illegal Works by Concentration Camp Prisoners
Description
The publication includes texts of lectures which were held at the conference organized by the Auschwitz-Birkenau State Musuem in Oświęcim in October 2011.
The curators of the memorial sites (Auschwitz, Buchenwald, Majdanek, Mauthausen, Ravensbruck and Teresin) and the martyrdom museums (Ghetto Fighters’ House and USHMM) showed the examples of the “illegal” camp art which had been created during World War II.
Particular lectures constitute a detailed description of the art collections in the above mentioned memorial sites and museums. An extensive illustrative material is attached to the texts.
