Bogdan Bartnikowski ist im Jahre 1932 in Warschau geboren. Nachdem am 1. August 1944 der Warschauer Aufstand ausgebrochen war, wurde er zusammen mit seiner Mutter verhaftet und ins Durchgangslager in Pruszków gebracht. Am 11. August ging ihr Leidensweg weiter – diesmal nach Auschwitz-Birkenau.
