August Kowalczyk (1921-2012) wurde in 1940 verhaftet, als er versuchte, nach Frankreich einzureisen, wo die Polnische Armee gebildet wurde. Im KL Auschwitz wurde er bis Juni 1942 gefangen. Am 7. Juni, während der Revolte von der Strafkompanie gelang ihm, aus dem Lager zu entfliehen. Er wurde von Bewohnern von Bojszowy versteckt.
